BSU Athletes Shines at 2014 National Track and Field Championship
The 2014 National Track and Field Championship was held in Jinan Olympic Stadium, Shandong Province from July 11 to 13. 32 teams from nationwide including 14 BSU students from Sport Coaching School participated in the game. Li Ling, the Asian Record Holder (4.65m) of Women’s Pole Vault, who though failed to break her own record, easily won the title at 4.61 meters. Lin Huijun, representing Fujian Province, ran her way to win the women’s 200m within 23.62 seconds and the eighth place in women’s 4x100m relay. We have also seen other talented athletes who lit up the stadium with their performances in running, high jumping, heptathlon, javelin, etc. Liu Fang won the second place in Women’s 800 meters and 1500 meters within 2:10.36 and 4:26.09 respectively; Wang Lin jumped into the second place in women’s high jumping at 1.84m; Li Weijian was the runner-up in women’s heptathlon with a score of 5231 and Du Xiaowei won third place in women’s javelin with a score of 56.20. For some of these participants, it was the first time for them to take part in any national level competition. Thus, more than just experience for them, this championship gave athletes an opportunity to compete with their peers and to find out what is the best they could and should do to achieve their goals.
